14th Boyle Buick GMC Truck Purchase

Last week, long time customers, General and Mrs. Barb Wachter, took delivery of their fourteenth car from Boyle Buick GMC Truck. Their first Boyle car was a Buick Regal purchased in 1978. Originally dealing with Founder Clarence Boyle, Sr., the Wachter's were sold several vehicles by Clarence's son, Service Director and Vice President, Chris Boyle. Their most recent purchase, a 2010 Buick Lacrosse was delivered by a member of the third generation of Boyle's, Chris's son, Randy Boyle, Internet Sales Manager. GMC Youth Football - Emmorton Buccaneers

Friday kicked off our GMC Youth Football Sponsorship of the Emmorton Buccaneers. Their annual Bull Roast was held at the Richlin Ballroom to kick off the 2010 season. We are excited and proud to support the league once again by donating equipment and $500. We are also supporting their raffle for a chance to win a 2011 GMC Terrain; Boyle Buick GMC Truck will donate an additional $50 for each new vehicle sold to a league supporter by December 31, 2010 with the raffle ticket stub. Sam Hanna is our 6th World Class Technician

Sam Hanna, son of World Class Technician, Ron Hanna, was just recently named our sixth world class technician. We lead all dealerships in Maryland in that category. "World Class" is the highest level of professional development through the GM Service Technical College and requires a considerable amount of training and testing. We thank Sam for his commitment and congratulate him for this recognition. Sam also holds the distinction of being the youngest World Class Technician in the program, a distinction formerly held by another one of our World Class Technicians, Dave Kropp.

Regal Sneak Peek "A Hit"

On Thursday, May 20, 2010, we held a small reception at Boyle Buick GMC Truck to get the word out about Buick’s latest vehicle, the 2011 Regal. This event included some limited test drives during the day followed by a short reception for all customers to take a look at the new Regal.

After having our first customer come back from a test drive and purchase an incoming regal (sight unseen,) we determined the event was going to be a hit. The rest of the test drives and reception went smoothly with nothing but praise for the Regal.

Lacrosse is Winning!

Have you seen the buzz about the 2010 LaCrosse winning over owners of the Lexus ES 350, Toyota Avalon XLS, Lincoln MKS, and Acura TL? Buzz is nice, but the proof is in the pudding. In the last ten days, two Lexus owners have traded their vehicles (each with only 22,000 miles) for a new LaCrosse. These upgrades from Lexus to LaCrosse follow a recent Avalon trade-in. My First Mother's Day

I became a mother exactly five months ago. My life changed completely the day Avery Irene came into it. I don't have to explain it to all the mothers out there...now I know what all my mom friends meant when they said, "Welcome to the Club."

Though it might not seem obvious, the fact that it has been three weeks since I started my position as the Director of Marketing and Customer Relations here at Boyle Buick GMC Truck is directly connected with becoming a mother. Being new mom helped me regain some perspective; I need my family and maybe they just need me too. So, I decided to fulfill a childhood dream of coming to work for my family. I hope the 12 years of knowledge and experience I bring to our family owned and operated business (for over 40 years!) will be a boon to the family, the business, and our many loyal and valued customers.

Mother's Day honors mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general. Here at Boyle Buick GMC Truck, we celebrate all the moms out there. Stop in this week, we have something for you, and oh yeah, all the dads out there, you stop in too, we have something for you to take home to the mom in your house.

Putting on my Work Hat while thinking about moms...let's talk just a second about the new GMC Terrain. If you haven't seen or heard about it then you are definitely not an ELLEN fan (she pretty much gives one away everyday on her show.) Anyway, the GMC Terrain may just be the best mom car that has been introduced in years; it's small enough to make things easy to reach and comfortable but big enough for car seats, adults in the back seats or a serious grocery shopping.

Just to name a few highlights; the Terrain gets 22 city/32 highway miles per gallon, it has a standard rear vision camera and most importantly for all of the moms out there, it was rated the Top Safety pick in 2009 by the Independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. How Do You Shop for A Car or Truck?

A few nights ago, we were well positioned to tune in to a conversation between two friends, one of each gender, about her quest to buy a new car. FWIW – she is a massage therapist; he is a home improvement contractor. Here are some of the highlights.

She: I really loved my old (brand name). I’d like to get one of those again. I saw some commercials for (dealer name), and the prices looked really good.

He: You have to go online and find out exactly how much the dealer paid for the car. Then, you offer them less.

She: The prices in the ad were really good, but the cars were probably completely stripped. I’m going to want some options. I thought I would go in and see what they could do for me. My old car had the best back support... not enough to push you forward, but a little bit of lumbar support so I always felt great when I drove it.

He: I always deal with the fleet manager. He can give you the best deal. But, you should really go online and find out how much the dealer paid for the car. I spent three months negotiating with dealerships before I bought my last truck, and the final price was thousands less than the first offers.

She: I bought my last (brand name) at (dealer name). I told them how much I wanted to pay each month, and that if they could meet that payment I would buy the car. They did, so I bought it there. But I won’t go back because I didn’t like the way they dealt with me.

At this point, we butted in...

We: Try going to the service department before you go to the sales department. They are the ones who will be taking care of your car, and if you ever have a problem you will really need to rely on them. One dealer might give you a little bit better of a deal on the purchase price, and any dealer can beat another one, but how you are treated and how much you pay in service is something you’ll be dealing with for four, five, six years or more.

The conversation ended there. She seemed to think that was a good idea. He told me where online I could find a book for negotiating my best deal.

GM's Fred Whitt congratulates Sam Hanna for earning the Goodwrench Leadership Award, "In recognition of leadership qualities demonstrated during participation in the GM Automotive Service Educational Program at The Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville." Having completed his ASEP training, Sam is now a full-fledged technician in our service department, were he works in the bay right next to one of our five World Class Technicians - his father, Ron Hanna. Congratulations Sam.

Paul Moran Honored

George Yost Retires After 28 Years

Parts Manager George Yost has retired after 28 years of service. George joined us back in the days before computers and managed to keep up with the latest changes in parts inventory technology as well as the amazing changes that have taken place in the vehicles themselves. Thanks for all the good work you did for us George. Not only could you come up with the parts we needed in short notice, but you always had a smile on your face and a joke at the ready.

George has turned the reigns over to the capable hands of Ken Bonham, who joined the dealership in 1997.

This is an exciting event for us, as you well can imagine, It has also kept us busier than a one-armed paper hanger, and we haven't had the chance to share with you some of the other big news that has happened here over the past month or so.
